When I went to Kona over spring break we also took a day trip over to the other side of the island to check out Hilo! Hilo was such a pretty area and it had SO many more cool things we could have done if we would have had more time! We actually were going to go ziplining but we were a little late to the game and they were already booked up! But there is always next time!
We started out our day by going to Rainbow Falls. It was so pretty and the area around the water fall was gorgeous as well! After looking from the main viewing area we decided to take a hike to the top and we got to do some hiking around on the rocks and the pools on the top of the waterfall!
For lunch we went to a Mexican restaurant, Lucy's. This place was SO good! My mom and I shared a burrito because their burritos are HUGE! I'm pretty sure we still didn't finish it even though we shared it... pretty sad! But nonetheless it was one of the best burritos I have had! So if you are in Hilo I would highly recommend checking out Lucy's!
On our way out of Hilo we decided to stop by the Kaumana Caves. Of course right as we got out of the car here it started pouring rain, but we braved it anyway and I'm really glad we did! If you go to these caves you should come prepared with flashlights. We didn't so we used our phones but it was still really dark so we didn't get to go too far into the caves. But even with how far we went they were so cool! They are lava caves so the whole ground is lava tubes, I got a picture where you can see the floor and you can also see what people have etched in them!
I wish we had more time in Hilo because there were so many things we wanted to see there, but I guess that just means we will have to go back sometime ;)
